NBAwire Rumors: New Year’s Eve, 2009

No one safe from trade on Wizards

The Washington Wizards’ trio of Gilbert Arenas, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler has been together since 2005, but it may not make it far into the new year intact.

“A person with knowledge of the Wizards” said no player on the team is “untouchable,” according to the Washington Post.  The Wizards are 10-20 this year, despite being in the midst of a relatively injury-free season.

The  Post reports Wizards President Ernie Grunfeld, when asked about if he would make a trade, responded, “It depends on how things go and what opportunities present themselves.”

T-Mac watch update: heading to the Knicks?

The New York Post is reporting that the New York Knicks are trying to acquire Houston Rockets guard Tracy McGrady.  For the deal to happen, however, it would likely require a buyout between McGrady and the Rockets, something the Rockets’ front office reportedly refuses to consider.

Marc Berman of the Post wrote the Rockets will not entertain offers including either Eddy Curry or Jared Jeffries because the team wants to preserve cap space.
